Four on the Floor is Princeton's first and only alternative-rock music festival. Four on the Floor began in 2023, created by Princeton locals Jedd Lopez, Zoe Ferguson, and Melissa Kuscin. This alt-rock music festival is completely musician-run and highlights fresh, emerging talent with over three hours of live music celebrating our vibrant music scene.

Four on the Floor partners with the Arts Council of Princeton. All money raised will support ACP’s programs, events, and public art. We believe art should be for everyone—and your support makes that possible. Since the festival's inception, Four on the Floor has raised over $2,000 towards funding arts programs, exhibitions, art supplies, and events. Where does the phrase “Four on the Floor” come from?

The "four-on-the-floor" beat is a rhythmic pattern used in 4/4 music where the bass drum hits on every beat of the measure, creating a steady, consistent rhythm. The term "four-on-the-floor" comes from the fact that the bass drum, which is often placed on the floor of the drum kit, plays four consecutive quarter notes in each measure.

This rhythmic pattern has influenced many different genres of music, from jazz and disco to rock and metal.

Kids - MGMT

Shut Up and Dance - Walk The Moon

When Your Heart Stops Beating - +44

Please Please Please - Sabrina Carpenter

Four on the Floor is organized by Jedd Lopez.
From a young age, Jedd Lopez has loved rock shows—both as a drummer and a concert photographer for outlets like Live Nation. He spent his high school years playing snare drum in the Immaculata High School drumline and was actively involved in the concert band at Rider University. A Princeton native, Jedd became involved with ACP in 2023, where he proposed the idea of launching an alt-rock music festival to support ACP programs. That idea eventually became Four on the Floor. Today, Jedd lives in New York City with his girlfriend, Zoe, and their cat, Luna. He is pursuing his MBA at NYU Stern and plays drums in the bands Cherry Blossoms and Versioning.
